Took a weekend intensive with Rachel Gross at Two Rivers Printmaking Center in White River Junction, Vermont.
Learned a ton, made lots, and experimented with my copper plates until they were obliterated.
The two Lilac etchings below are from the same copper plate. One in black and the other is a la poupee.
Etchings have a beautiful finish to them. They’re like fancy sketches.
I had a very scratched up copper plate for this Peonies etching, so I spend a lot of time buffing out scratches on the flowers using 100grit sandpaper, steel wool, and a burnisher.
Comparing with the previous etching, this a la poupee version of Peonies shows the work of all that buffing.
a final experiment on the Peonies plate using aquatint with spray paint and a variety grounds including a homemade one that gave me hell.
